Why We’re Building Chage
In the early days of building something new, every step forward matters. Each feature launched, bug squashed, and improvement made tells a story of progress and intent. It's a chance to get a new user or obtain valuable feedback from existing users.
Yet, many teams keep these stories locked away, shared only in meetings or internal tools. At Chage, we believe these stories deserve to be told—to your users, your team, and even to yourself. This is why we’re building Chage, a product that makes creating a changelog as easy as writing a note but as impactful as a keynote speech.
Why a Changelog Matters
A changelog is more than just a list of updates; it’s a communication tool that bridges gaps between creators and users, a record of growth, and a celebration of momentum.
Startups thrive on momentum - they need to keep shipping to survive. Shipping means progress and progress gets users. A changelog keeps the team’s eyes on the horizon, reminding everyone to keep moving forward.
A changelog forces you to commit to shipping. Paul Graham once said "startups rarely die mid keystroke" and a changelog forces you to keep typing.
For users, changelogs offer transparency and trust. They signal that the team behind the product is listening, iterating, and investing in the experience.
As a Product Manager, one of the hardest challenges is driving new feature adoption. Reaching all your users as you scale—and getting them to engage with new features—can be surprisingly difficult. Without adoption, even your best work risks going unnoticed, leading to higher churn and jeopardizing the success of your business.
Changelogs provide a direct and effective way to communicate updates. They highlight the value of your work and encourage users to explore new features. By increasing visibility and engagement, changelogs help boost the perceived value of your product, making it less likely that users will churn.
What We’re Building
Chage is designed to make changelog creation effortless yet impactful. Here’s what you can expect soon:
- Beautiful Changelogs: Whether you’re a solo founder or part of a larger team, you can create a beautiful changelog in seconds that reflect your brand and tone—from professional and polished to friendly and approachable.
- Focused Writing Experience: Writing your posts should be easy. That's why we've focused on crafting a great writing experience with support for images, videos and more.
- Multichannel Support: Users can also subscribe to your changelog to get email updates so they never miss an update. We meet your audience where they are.
This is just the beginning. As we grow, we’re committed to evolving Chage into more than a tool for updates—we want it to become a platform for driving feature adoption, gathering feedback, and building community.
How We See the Future
We’re building Chage with flexibility in mind. As we engage with early adopters, we expect to learn and iterate rapidly. Some of the directions we’re exploring include:
- Deep Analytics: Understand what’s resonating with your users by tracking views, engagement, and feedback.
- Team Collaboration: Tools for teams to streamline changelog creation, assign updates to features, and align on messaging.
- AI-Powered Suggestions: Automatically summarize updates or suggest improvements to help you ship changelogs faster.
- Integrated Workflows: Seamless integration with the tools you already use, like GitHub, Notion, and Slack.
Our ultimate goal is to make Chage a natural part of your product development cycle, so sharing your progress feels as essential as making it.
Why We’re Excited
We’ve seen firsthand how a simple changelog can transform how teams and users connect. It’s not just about broadcasting updates; it’s about celebrating wins, sharing your story, and inviting others to join you on the journey. By lowering the barrier to creating changelogs, we hope to help more teams experience these benefits.
If this vision excites you, we invite you to join us. Start your own changelog, share your updates with the world, and let us know how we can make Chage work even better for you.
Let’s get started.
